Initial Thoughts

I've got a fair amount of work to do, so, since the rest of my family is asleep, I thought I'd take this cigar out and smoke it.  It appears to be reasonably well constructed, with no observable soft spots.  It smells slightly earthy, not much in terms of sniff.

The Smoke

The stick fell of the table as I was preparing to smoke it, so more than likely it is damaged.  As such, if there's issues with the cigar splitting, I'll attribute it to that.  So, after using my notch cutter, I toast the foot and take my first couple of puffs.  Bear in mind that this cigar is physically nearly the length of an 8X11 piece of paper.  As such, the smoke that finally comes down to the head is surprising cool.  Taste wise, quite frankly there isn't a whole hell of a lot.  Hints of toasted nuts, thus far a very mild stick.

48 minutes later, I'm at approximately the 1/3rd point.  The flavor is picking up a little, somewhat peppery, with hints of toasted nuts.  The burn is a little bit uneven, but thus far, nothing to write home about.

1 hr, 40 minutes later, after having retouched a little to address the uneven burn, I'm now down to about 2/3rds of the way.  No, I'm not "babying" this stick... it is THAT damned  big!  Strengthwise, I would say the stick is on the upper end of mild.  The peppery flavor continues to intensify.

2 hours 32 minutes..... I'm done.  Now THAT is one big assed cigar.  Perhaps I'll have to take on one of the monsterous Puros Indios 100 ring gauge sticks next.

The Rating

Flavor: 6/10Pretty monochromatic in terms of flavor
 Draw:9/10Good draw
Construction: 7/10There were some issues with the wrapper splitting due to my inadvertantly pushing the cigar off the table while I was trying to get my computer and everything arranged.  The burn issue requiring touchups is what I actually downgraded the cigar on.
Overall: 6/10All in all, not a bad stick.  Not something I'd have every day, thats for damned sure.
