Initial Thoughts

Ever have one of those days where ya just don't feel like working?  Today was such a day, and after putting in an actual 8 hours of completely mindless drivel, I'm ready to call it a day and relax.  Thanks to  Duque cigars., I have this chocolatey looking maduro cigar to relax and enjoy with.  Construction appears to be pretty much flawless -- no soft spots, not a blemish to be found.  Sniff test provides a deep earthy aroma... I'll be honest, almost "barnyard," but not overpoweringly so.

The Smoke

I use my guillotene  cutter to clip the cap, toast and light the foot and take my first puff.  Boom! Now THATS what I call some flavor!  Now... to describe it... LOL.  I would say  kind of peppery with a slightly sweet finish. What else... the draw on this thing is perfect.  I typically don't smoke torpedoes because at least one in five ends up not drawing right.  In this case, its nice and easy.  The burn is perfect, and produces a grey ash.  I would also say that there's a hint of an almost leathery flavor thrown in there for good measure.

At the 1/3rd point, the flavor is a little more peppery, and takes on some nuances of what I would describe as espresso along with everything else I described above.  The draw and burn continue to be absolutely perfect.

2/3rds of the way through, and the burn, draw and flavor continue to be absolutely great.

The Rating

Flavor: 10/10Excellent flavor, lots of nuances.
 Draw:10/10 Perfect draw.
Construction:9/10Excellent construction, the wrapper was a little veiny.
Overall:9/10Overall, this was an excellent cigar, and one that I'll be adding to my "cigars to enjoy on special occasions" list [ok, I'll be buying a box and letting them age for a while :)].
