Arturo Fuente... can one possibly go wrong with a Fuente?
Fuente Seleccion Privada #1 Initial Thoughts Lets face it... I sincerely doubt Fuente could actually make a bad cigar. Initial inspection reveals a well constructed cigar, with no soft spots. The smoke is box pressed. I do observe some veininess in the wrapper. Smell test... mmmmm... kind of earthy with some nuttiness. The Smoke I clip the cigar with my cutter, and as expected, no issues whatsoever with cap breakage or cracking. The first couple of puffs after lighting reveals a smooth, medium flavored smoke with good flavor. I continue puffing, and honestly, it tastes a little spicy and nutty. The draw on this cigar is basically flawless. I'm approximately 1/3 of the way done, and I'm seeing a little unevenness with the burn. Flavor continues to be great. Medium flavored for sure. As I continue puffing on it, the unevenness in the burn gets a little worse. At the 2/3 point, the burn is still uneven. The flavor is still very nice. Spicy, nutty, excellent complexity. As I get closer to the end of the cigar, the burn starts to even out. Not a note of any harshness, just nice medium flavor, with some spiciness. This is a very nice, tasty cigar. The Rating
