Initial Thoughts

So, I gotta be honest.  When I first took the cellophane off this thing, I was like "what the hell... is this thing moldy?"  There was this decidedly greenish tinge to it.  I attempted to scrape off the greenish tinge, and lo and behold, it IS in fact the wrapper color.  I sniff the cigar, and it smells decent.  My 14 year old daughter (future vegan) says "Dad, they all smell like shit."  Visual inspection reveals no flaws, and physically, the stick appears to be well constructed.  Bear in mind, this is supposed to be one of them booty-q (boutique) cigars, so, I'm hoping for a reasonable smoke.  If not, I'm just gonna drink more.

The Smoke

I snip the cap with my handy dandy cutter (nope, still ain't got the notch cutter), light it, and take my first couple of puffs.  Not bad... definitely on the milder end of medium, but good flavor.  According to the website, they claim the following:

A medium bodied smoke sealed with an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. It possesses an earth complexity with plenty of spicy coffee bean flavors and aromas. Very rich tasting, creamy, robust, yet extremely smooth.

Where the fuck to they get coffee bean flavors?  I'm not tasting anything remotely beanish.  I will agree, it IS smooth, and has decent complexity.  The draw on this cigar is basically flawless, and the burn is equally excellent.

At apprxoximately the halfway point, the flavor starts to increase significantly, both in flavor and complexity.  I would put this in the mid range of medium at this point, and I have to say, I am enjoying myself with this cigar.

At the 2/3 point, the burn continues to be excellent, flavor and complexity is quite good.  I don't taste any bitterness at all.  I continue puffing on the cigar, until I can't continue, and I have to say, I'm quite satisfied with the experience.  I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised!
