Initial Thoughts

Ok, so what the hell is up with these monsterous ring gauge cigars?  Well, allegedly, the bigger ring gauge cigars can give you more flavor.  This particular stick, is a half jeroboam.  The Jeroboam is in fact 10" long.  After my experience with the "Dominican Giant" from Finck Cigars, I just said "No" to the big J.   Once again, I'll be using my ghetto snipper, aka. pocket knive.  My buddy Ash pointed out to me that I should seriously consider a notch cutter, since other methods are decidedly uncivilized.  Alrighty... duly noted.

This cigar smells nice, and appears to be well constructed.  No squishiness.  This cigar reminds me of my former friend Roid.  Ok, his name wasn't really Roid... it was Rod.  He was this short, stubby body builder guy, who was incredibly insecure and narcissistic.  Well, you can guess why I refer to him as "Roid."  Hopefully this cigar isn't laced with any more of than the usual toxins (ie... My hope is that the similarities with Roid end just at the physical short, stubby appearance).

The Smoke

So, after cutting the cap (and causing it to break a little), I fire this thing up.  As with my previous encounter with massively large ring gauge cigars, I had some difficulty getting the entire smoke lit up.  The draw on this smoke is very easy.  After successfully lighting all of the cigar, the burn seems to be pretty even.  Taste is decidedly mild, and I'm not noticing a significant amount of complexity.  The cigar produces some nice smoke, and white ash.  I'm at approximately 1/3, and I've noticed some slight bitterness.

Ok, I'm now at the 2/3 mark, and am observing some unevenness with the burn.  I'm not noticing any bitterness now, and the flavor is smooth, but not particularly complex.  I'm sipping on my martini as I smoke this stogey.  I actually had smoked one previously (a couple of days ago), and had also noted some unevenness in the burn then as well.  I'm also observing some minor cracking of the wrapper.  Typically a sign of overhumidification, but my digital hygrometer said "67" so I doubt thats the reason.  Tastewise, this continues to be a decent, mild smoke.  And, unfortunately, with about an inch left, I have to call it done, because I can't hang on to it any longer.
